Poems

Bridegroom
O Lord, my bridegroom
How I long to see Your face
To REALLY see You as You see me
To know You as You know me
To know You in Your fullness
Even as I am fully known
To have no secrets between one another
To be totally vulnerable and naked before You
Even as You intended from the beginning
That there would be nothing between us
Nothing standing in the way of our fellowship
Nothing causing me to want to hide from You

Jesus, my lover, my bridegroom
I long to walk in the cool of the garden with You again, even as Adam did
To walk in that place of uninhibited fellowship
Enraptured with Your beauty, having eyes only for Your radiant face that shines with Your glory
Glory that radiates with the power of perfect LOVE
For You are love - the essence of selflessness, of sacrifice, of servanthood
You are the complete definition of LOVE
I need not look anywhere else to find it
For YOU ARE-I AM

The God of Me
The God who is my refuge,
the one who is my shelter,
this is the God of me

The God who gives me purpose,
the one who guides my ways,
this is the God of me

The God who gave His life for me,
the one who gave me liberty,
this is the God of me

The God who delivers,
The one who sets me free,
this is the God of me.

The God who is my fortress,
the one who is my strength,
this is the God of me

The God who blesses with kindness,
the one who blesses with good,
this is the God of me

The God who provides my every need
the one who doesn't forsake me,
this is the God of me.

Praise be to the Lord Jesus,
for He is the God of me

The Heart Core
Within the heart core and deeper than that
The Lord took a piece of Himself and joined it to me
Only a seed of mustard size that starts
The trickle and begins the flow
His living water
That trickle to spring
That spring to gush
Then a mighty river with water rush
Carving straight the rock and earth
As all of creation groans the birth
Of sons and daughters to plant His seed
Of mustard small but greatest tree
Its branches give shade to the sons and daughters
The great gardener the source of this raging water.

His Love
Gentle your touch, you take my hand
We walk slowly
My hopes and longings are absent
All I know is my hand in yours
You seem excited about where we're going
I look off to the side and tug your shirt and point
You smile as we walk on
You pull some fresh greens out of the field for us to eat
I had not noticed my own hunger, but you smile at me like you knew
I am anxious about nothing
As we crest the hill we can see the valley
There is a skip in you step as you see a village in the distance
You are crying
"Why are you crying", I ask?
You say,
"Because I love them,
And we are finally here."

How Often
How often, O Lord?
How often?

How often do we fail You?
How often do we neglect Your voice?
Your words are in us
Your ways are before us
Yet our minds are not stayed on Thee
Our hearts are not faithful to You.

How often, O Lord?
How often?

How often You are faithful.
How often do You show us?
Your words remain in us
Your ways are unchanging
You never fail to overlook our flaws
You never fail to love us - - - in spite of our ways.

How often, O Lord?
How often?

Shall we seek Your forgiveness?
Shall we receive Your love?
How faithful, O Lord! How faithful!

The Last Word
How can I improve upon what has already been spoken?
What can I say that might echo through the heavens' hall?
That I might be wise - not clever.
Nothing new, nothing fresh, nothing not expressed before…
But maybe this…
God was greater in my eyes, fuller in my heart, closer in His kingdom…
At the end of this poem than at beginning.
Reality is closer at hand.

More of You
I want more,
My Savior,
Come fill me up, Lord.
Fill me up.
Show me Your glory,
Show me Your power,
Show me Your face, Lord.
Come fill me up, Lord,
Fill me up.
Your wonders never cease, Lord
I am forever in awe of You
For Your ways are not mine
I know that You know what You're doing
So I will put my trust in You.
Show me Your ways
I may be young,
But that won't stop me from seeking You and knowing You, Lord.
You are my Father
And I love You.

The Musician
The soft vibrations of the strings bring a joy to the Master
The knowledge of the healthy vessel inspires the empowered fingers to move gently along
Quick soft movement glides across the soul of the instrument
Sweet aroma is released as the grasping bow cascades across the saturated body.
The musician releases His heart cry
The naïve strings sing His song
Deep, rich, powerful tunes are released from the children
Reflection of the Father's love.

A Simple Prayer
Dear Lord, Father
Here I am again
Repenting in Your presence
Looking for Your love
Hoping for Your presence
How I spend my time- wishing for Your Life
When I could use my time listening to Your heart
Teach me O Holy Spirit how to know what Jesus intercedes on behalf of all around me,
including my own needs.
It is said that You know what I need even before I ask
Increase my faith-renew my hope- to complete your chosen task.

There is much in my mind-lessons I have learned
Knowledge I have heard-teaching not earned
Cause me to walk it out being a doer and not a hearer
So I set You free from all my expectations
I release You from all I think You should do
I repent of My agenda and look for You.
You are my sovereign King the one who knows beginning from end
Free to do as You please - I wait for You
I want You to promote me from stewardship to slavery
Free to be Your bond slave
Free to be Your servant who owns nothing
Behold the hand maiden of the Lord

The Winds
The fresh winds of the Lord blow on me,
They bring peace and understanding,
All of nature rejoices.
They bring supernatural anointing to our hurting world.
Strength and unity,
Trees blow in the wind of the Lord,
Refreshing me, this wind blows through my body,
Taking pain and sickness, bringing joy and identity to those who are weary!
Chains are broken off of men!
Darkness may not enter me!
I rest in Him!
Everything I have is in Him! Blessed by Him!
The wind releases man from himself.
Our new focus is on the Lord of heaven and earth!
People come to you, God!
Praise the lord! In one voice of GREAT unity.

You
Take me away Lord. Into that secret place.
Where You look into my eyes and I look into Your eyes.
You see my heart and know I love You.
I look into Your face and see Your love.
Your love tells me who I am and whose I am.
I know I am Yours. And You are mine. I can't comprehend this love.
This love so deep, so wide, so high, so infinite, so eternal,
so gentle, so tender, so fierce, so passionate.
You romance me and sweep me off my feet.
Though I was broken and clothed in rags, I was wounded and empty,
You took me to that secret place, into your chambers.
You made me beautiful. You see me spotless, pure, holy and righteous.
You see me fit for a bride. This is the place where I cannot hide.
But I need not hide, for You see me wholly and love me perfectly.
So gently You take me to Your chambers where you whisper in my ear
Your countless thoughts toward me. My response can only be to love You back.
When I see Your love so deep, so passionate for me
all I am to do is love You back. For who was before Your love.
I did not know myself before You showed me Yourself.
And then I saw You my love, I saw You and saw love.
You were first my King. My friend, my brother, and now my lover.
And we will run away into that place. So long I have sought that place
but until you took me by the hand away with You I could not find it.
So now I stand here exposed. I am the one You chose.
For what have I to be ashamed of. For You chose me to love.
You looked beyond my surface into my depths.
In this heart I have kept a place for only You. A place for You to rest.

You Are
Father, You are the song in my heart
You are the joy in the
You are the hope and my love song
You are beautiful and irresistible
You are everlasting
You are awesome and mighty
Your mercy is like an ocean when I can take only a cup
